Finnish Sauna Brisbane
Given the innumerable environmental toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis particularly in busy areas like Brisbane, saunas play an imperative role in supporting our body’s second largest detoxification pathway, sweating, in the pursuit of attaining optimal health.
Saunas are meant to challenge you, mentally and physically. They are designed to expose you to uncomfortable temperatures, ones that in the long run, are beneficial on so many levels, both physically and emotionally. Your body responds to the stress of the heat by initiating an antioxidant and cellular repair response with wonderful health benefits, including reducing stress, increasing metabolism, detoxification and relieving muscle and joint pain. So make use of our sauna in Brisbane to reap all the benefits of sauna. Book a Sanctuary Session today.
Brisbane Sauna: Enjoy the Benefits
At Vikasati, we two different types of saunas in Brisbane, a wet-rock and an infrared. The main difference between the two is how they use heat. Classic saunas use a single heater that heats the air, which in turn, heats the user.
In contrast, in an infrared sauna, the air temperature is less important than the quality of the heat. Once you enter the heated sauna, your body heat warms it up and as you absorb the infrared heat, the thermal energy increases, which in turn, induces a deep and relaxing sweat. Read more about the benefits of sauna so you know all the good you can do with our Brisbane sauna today.
Finnish Sauna vs Infrared
While infrared sauna heat might be lower in temperature, it is very effective at inducing deep, detoxifying perspiration. Given the more comfortable temperature, it also means you can relax for extended periods and gain maximum benefits from your sweat session. Our Finnish dry sauna in Brisbane has been specifically customised to suit the restoration space we have created at Vikasati. With the ability to comfortably hold up to 20 people, our sauna promotes the detoxification process, as well as gives you the opportunity to connect with others or have adequate room to stretch out and move around. On the other hand, our infra-red sauna, available to be booked privately, offers you a quiet space to connect with your mind and a drier, yet more unique, heat experience. Book a Sanctuary session or book the infrared sauna privately to enjoy our saunas in Brisbane today.
Access to the traditional sauna is included as part of a standard Sanctuary booking, while the infrared sauna is booked separately.
Although our weekends are busier and we recommend you make a booking, we limit numbers to our sauna in order to ensure your experience is enjoyable at all times.
We require you wear a bathing suit, or at least some form of comfortable attire, whilst visiting our sauna.
We have lockers, as well as private change rooms and toilets. Our communal showers, located in the bathhouse, are outdoors in the fresh air.
Both. Our Finnish dry sauna and the plunge pools are shared with others, however, you can make a booking to have a private infrared sauna session.
Although the Sanctuary is ultimately an open space that encourages connection with fellow members, we also ask that you are mindful of others who are looking for more of a quiet, individual experience.
Our space is enjoyable in all weather, but if you are looking to soak up the sunshine as part of your bathhouse experience, the pools and ice baths are even more beautiful and enticing when it is sunny. The saunas are located indoors, so can be enjoyed rain, hail or shine.
We have a duty of care to all our members and our dedicated staff will chat with you to recommend what we think is suitable for your condition, before you use the facilities. This ensures your experience, be it the bathhouse, gym or training session, is specifically tailored to suit your needs and abilities and that your safety is paramount.
The hot pool is 37 degrees, the cold pool is 12 degrees and the ice bath is a refreshing 4 degrees. We’ve designed the most effective combination of temperatures to ensure you gain the best benefits. Following a dip in the reinvigorating cold pool, which is the perfect medium between the warmer pool and the ice bath , the heated magnesium pool is comforting and promotes circulation. The ice bath will take you to the next level of cold, but is designed to completely reset both your physical and mental state.
Absolutely – we give you all the tips, tools and strategies you’ll need to ensure you get the most out of your bathhouse experience. Vikasati is a supportive and safe environment and there is no pressure to follow a particular program or do what everyone else is doing. If you are not quite ready to take the icy plunge, we also have cold magnesium pools, which provide incredible health benefits and are a more gentle progression until you’re ready for the ice bath. You can spend five or twenty-five minutes in the saunas, pending how comfortable you feel and how much you want to challenge yourself. Either way, our welcoming staff are here to encourage and support you on your bathhouse journey.
